About Me

James D. Creviston

As a fan and lover of comedy, my childhood led me to use humor as a defensive mechanism to avoid bullying, domestic violence, and a life of poverty.

Through comedy and with a sense of humor I managed to pull myself out of a cycle of abuse and poverty enlisting in the United States Navy and earning a Bachelors in History, a Masters in Military History and a Masters of Business Administration.

MY WORK STORY

I am a writer, blogger, comedian, and podcaster in Los Angeles. I am the producer of the wildly popular Clean Comedy Hour stand up show, as well as the co-host of The Clean Comedy Podcast.

I have been doing stand up for the last three years and has performed in LA and NY at some of the hottest clubs. I am a former veteran of the United States Navy as well as a graduate of the University of Las Vegas, Nevada.

I am an avid comic book, television, and movie nerd. I can often be seen performing clean comedy all over Los Angeles and heard giving advice on the weekly podcast The Clean Comedy Podcast.

MY PERSONAL STORY

Born in Fairbanks Alaska and raised in Temple, Texas I grew up in a poor neighborhood surrounded by drugs, violence, and hopelessness. My home life was not much better with limited supervision and no parental guidance I found myself drawn to television. Sitcoms and shows like Saturday night Live were my escapes from the harsh reality of life.

With Friday and Saturday nights available to consume unlimited television I soon found stand up comedy and enjoyed the likes of Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Rodney Dangerfield, Chris Rock, Roseanne Barr, Andrew “Dice” Clay, and Sam Kinison. My humor changed as I got older but I was always the first to crack a job or lighten the mood with my sense of humor.

All throughout school I was often the class clown. As a way to overcompensate for my lack of income, physical prowess, or coolness I used my humor and wit to win friends and influence people. Because of my sense of humor and ability to make others laugh i made a name for myself with other kids and often crossed teachers and school administrators.

By the time I reached High School I used my wit to build friendships and show my intelligence. After High School I joined the United States Navy were my brand of humor was enjoyed by many not in a leadership position. Despite my inability to control my sharp tongue I managed to raise through the ranks quickly and show that my brain was just for jokes but also for held a mind for leadership.

After the Navy I went to college where I earned a Bachelors in History, a Masters In Military History, and a Masters of Business Administration. I have used those skills at several top companies as well as on stage as a stand up comedian, and even as a comedy writer for several headliner level comedians and media enterprises. My love of comedy has been the defining moment in my life and I aim to share my gift with the world through ComedyPreneur where others can take a hold of the comedy dreams and turn it into a comedy lifestyle.
